Poems-
1. This is the earliest poem in my portfolio. Written when I was around 8 years old. It is titled, Haiku, although it deviates slightly from the traditional form in that it requires two stanzas instead of one. However, the correct syllable count is used for both.
Haiku:
On my left I see
Dead trees of hatred and of
Death as I trudge through.
On the other side,
I see happiness like a
Whole new world. Why go?

(Apparently my cherophobia started from a very young age.)
2. This was part of a writing exercise done in a Writers' Group, of which I was a brief member. We were placed under time pressure to write a poem from scratch.
Stardom:
You fly far and high
High and far
To try and reach a star
But a mistake
You will make
Is to fly too far, too high
Try too hard and die.

You will make

Try too hard and die.
(On the surface, it is about those wanting to become a star in Hollywood.
However, it takes its inspiration from Icarus
and deals with a troubling concern I had about aspirations:
at the time, it felt as though the more I wanted something, the greater my failure would be.)

3. This is comprised of two cinquains that I wrote when I was around 12 years old. Around this time, I was experimenting with different structures of poetry. As for their meaning, I refer you to my profile.

Thinking, Confused
Wondering, Contemplating, Stressing
What will I say?
Uhhh

"... for the lack of social interaction"
(clearly, those requisite skills were never fully developed.)

4. A Diamante in the rough.

Fast Slow
Turning Winding Counting
An ageless face, Watching
Creating Growing Waiting
Here Mysterious

(For a brief time, I wanted to be a Horologist in the Swiss Alps-
making watches and other complex orreries with my hands.
Shop class put an end to that dream.)
